Take a fast ride with Eric! |
Team Vesco arrived on the salt Tuesday in time for lunch at the Salt Flat Grill. With a full crew on board, pits were set up, the car was prepped and ready to go. Team member & driver, Eric Ritter, was once again eager to attack the elusive 323 mph Team Vesco record in the C-gas Streamliner class with the Vesco-Spangler 372 c.i. sbc engine.

On Eric's second run a fitting on the oil hose split causing an aborted run. So, for the third time in as many meets, the Team Vesco crew swapped motors. This time the Vesco/Spangler 372 c.i. engine traded out for the Al Sanderson 372 c.i. small block Chevy. In record time the next day we were ready to run. Eric's first run after the engine change gave him a 339.946 mph! Friday morning he followed it up with another blistering run of nearly identical speed which rewarded him with a new landspeed record of 339.339 mph! After 18 runs of over 300 mph Eric Ritter from NYC became a member of the 300 MPH Chapter of the 200 MPH Club!

Team Vesco thanks SCTA-BNI for making the 2012 World Finals event a success. We thank the volunteers for giving of their time and once again making that trek to the incredible Bonneville Salt Flats. Please remember to get involved with "Save the Salt" and let your legislators know of the seriously fragile condition of the salt. Finally, we would like to pass on the words of Winston Churchill which we found to be so true this season, "Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts."
